The HP Smart Array P700m (part no. 510026-001) is an 8-channel SAS/SATA RAID controller designed for enterprise storage arrays and server environments. This half-height PCIe x8 card delivers up to 6 Gb/s per channel throughput and includes 512MB onboard cache for improved I/O performance. It supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 50 configurations, accommodating mixed SAS and SATA drive populations in the same array. The controller is compatible with HP ProLiant DL-series and ML-series servers from the G6-G9 generation, as well as legacy enterprise storage systems requiring 8-channel SAS connectivity. Typical applications include database servers, virtualization hosts, and high-capacity backup appliances. Note: this unit ships without battery-backed cache module; optional battery packs are available separately for write-cache persistence.
