Dell 53T72 is a SATA DVD+/-RW optical drive module designed for Dell enterprise servers and workstations. This slim form factor drive supports dual-layer DVD media (DVD+R DL, DVD-R DL) and CD-R/RW formats, with read speeds up to 8x for DVDs and 24x for CDs, and write speeds proportional to media type. The SATA interface provides 1.5–3 Gbps throughput depending on negotiated speed. Compatible with Dell PowerEdge and Precision systems that support hot-plug optical modules, the 53T72 is suitable for OS deployment, firmware updates, and legacy application distribution in environments where optical media remains relevant.
